Resegone from Morterone: the spires and Rifugio Azzoni
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
The saw-toothed profile that made Lecco famous
A trek for anyone who loves iconic peaks: the Resegone, with the saw-toothed profile made famous by Manzoni, accompanies us step by step to its 1,875 metres, where views over Lecco, Lake Como and the whole Alpine arc await.
We start from the small village of Morterone, the least populated municipality in Italy, and the trail alternates gentle stretches with firmer climbs, through woods, clearings and the spectacular limestone spires that make this mountain unique, loved by people from Lecco and Milan alike.
At the top Rifugio Azzoni welcomes us for a break with a postcard view: from here the whole lake is visible, and on clear days the eye reaches Monte Rosa. Nine kilometres and 800 metres of ascent.
Why come
- the Resegone, Lecco's symbol mountain
- the limestone spires that draw its saw-toothed profile
- Rifugio Azzoni right below the summit
- Morterone, the least populated municipality in Italy
Who it suits
This is an intermediate hike: 800 metres of ascent over nine kilometres, with steep sections and passages among the rocks where a sure step is needed, but no equipped stretches. Bring boots with a good sole and water.
Come with the Guidders: book your place and let's climb the Resegone.
