Resegone from Brumano: Punta Cermenati and Rifugio Azzoni

Lecco's mountain, climbed from the Bergamo side

If Lecco has a heart, it is carved into the jagged profile of the Resegone. And if one trail reaches it with charm and a touch of quiet poetry, it is the one from Brumano, on the Bergamo side of Val Imagna: far less busy than the Lecco routes, and all the better for it.

The hike leads through spectacular ridges and green passages, with the scent of woodland in the first part and the view opening as we climb. The goal is Punta Cermenati, at 1,875 metres, where Rifugio Azzoni stands: from up there the whole lake is in sight.

It is 10 kilometres and 900 metres of ascent over six hours. A demanding but accessible trek, in a quieter corner of a mountain everyone knows.

Who it suits

This is an intermediate hike: 900 metres of ascent in six hours, with steep sections and some ridge walking where a sure step is needed. There are no equipped passages. Bring boots with a good sole, water and a windproof jacket: the ridge is almost always breezy.
