Description
A hut on a natural terrace at 1,520 metres, with Lake Como stretching below us from Colico to Lecco. An easy outing and one of the most scenic on the lake.
The route
We set off with the Guidders from Montuglio, the upper hamlet of San Siro, and climb a mule track between chestnut trees and meadows that opens wider onto the lake at every bend. The ascent is 550 metres, spread over a well-marked trail that requires no experience.
At Rifugio La Canua the view is the reason for the whole day: opposite, the Legnone and the Valsassina, to the north the Pian di Spagna and the Valchiavenna Alps, to the south the Corni di Canzo. Whoever wishes climbs a little further onto the ridge above the hut, where the view turns 360 degrees towards Switzerland. Optional lunch in the hut or packed lunch, then back down the same trail.

Good to know
The hut is open at weekends: lunch is paid on site. Car pooling in the outing's Telegram group, with convenient departures from Milan and Monza too.
