The adventure begins
Description
The only four-thousander entirely within Italy.
The Gran Paradiso, 4,061 metres, is an elegant and majestic mountain commanding the heart of the national park: reaching its summit is a genuine, deeply symbolic high-altitude experience.
Day 1. We set off with the Guidders from the Gran Paradiso valley and climb to Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the most iconic bases in the Alps, set among moraines and glacial bowls: an evening of true high-mountain atmosphere.
Day 2. A start in the night, roped up on the glacier, to the summit of the Gran Paradiso.
