Roadto4000 – Castore 4228 m: The Perfect Ridge to the Sky

The Castore is one of the 4000 most elegant peaks in the Alps: a white blade that separates the Ayas Valley from the Monte Rosa massif. Ascending this summit means walking along one of the most iconic glacial ridges in Europe, suspended between the sky, snow, and breathtaking panoramas.

Our adventure begins from Staffal, where the landscape changes rapidly: from larch forests to glacial moraines, until encountering the high altitude. At a steady pace, we will reach the Quintino Sella Refuge (3585 m), a historic eagle's nest overlooking the Rosa, a reference point for generations of mountaineers. Here, we will spend an authentic evening together with the Guidders, amidst fiery sunsets, thin air, and that special energy that you only feel when you are about to touch a 4000.

At dawn, with crampons scratching the ice and the silence of the high mountains all around, we will face the Felik Glacier until we reach the spectacular Castore Crest: a perfect line of snow, sharp and panoramic. Every step is an emotion, every meter a crescendo that culminates in the summit cross (4228 m). It is a powerful, technical experience, but within the reach of those who have determination, team spirit, and a desire to experience the true high altitude.

The descent will take place along the same route, with an open view of the entire Monte Rosa massif until the return to Staffal.
