Monviso: the normal route up the King of Stone, in two days
Guiddy Mountaineering Scale
PD (Little Difficult)
The adventure begins
Description
The King of Stone, with a night at the Quintino Sella
Climbing Monviso means a true alpine adventure on one of the most iconic mountains in the Alps: the perfect pyramid recognisable from across the Piedmont plain, which the Romans called Vesulus.
It is a two-day itinerary. On the first afternoon we climb from Pian del Re to Rifugio Quintino Sella, between glacial lakes and the looming north face: here we sleep and eat, with half board included.
At dawn on the second day we tackle the south normal route: long, airy, physical and hugely rewarding, with rock sections and constant focus up to the 3,841 metres of the summit. The alpine guide, mountaineering equipment, helmet and harness are all included.
Why come
- Monviso, the symbol mountain of Piedmont
- a night at Rifugio Quintino Sella, below the north face
- the south normal route: rock, exposure and a great setting
- alpine guide, equipment and half board included
Who it suits
This is a mountaineering outing: 1,900 metres of total ascent, rock sections and constant exposure. Excellent fitness, no fear of heights and familiarity with altitude are required. It is not a hike. The alpine guide assesses the group: if you have doubts about your level, write to us before booking.
Come with the Guidders: book your place and let's climb the King of Stone.
