Description
We start from Monterosso al Mare and leave the busiest side of the Cinque Terre behind for a summer coastal crossing that feels fresh, scenic, and rewarding. Ahead of us is one of the most beautiful sections of the Sentiero Liguria, all the way to Bonassola, with sea and hills constantly sharing the stage.
We’ll hike 10.3 km with 546 m of elevation gain and more than 4 hours on the trail, crossing the Mesco Promontory, Mediterranean woods, rocky stretches, and endless views over the Ligurian Sea. We’ll climb to the ruins of the Hermitage of Sant’Antonio del Mesco, at around 300 meters above sea level: the official Monterosso–Sant’Antonio section is rated E, about 2.5 km long with 301 meters of elevation gain. Then we continue toward Levanto and finally Bonassola. In summer we set off in the morning while it’s cooler: bring plenty of water.
