Snowshoe Hike to the Campagneda Plains: Sunset over Pizzo Scalino and a Traditional Valtellina Dinner

There’s nothing better than experiencing winter in the snow and then stepping into the warmth of a mountain hut to share dinner over a plate of pizzoccheri.

On clear days, the view will stretch as far as Monte Disgrazia and the great peaks of the Bernina Group.

Together we will wait for the most beautiful moment: sunset on the snow. The last light of the day will paint the peaks while the temperature begins to drop and the mountains take on a completely different atmosphere.

Then it will be time to step into the warmth.

A typical Valtellina dinner will be waiting for us at the mountain hut, to be shared with the other Guidders over cured meats, cheeses, pizzoccheri, and mountain flavors.

But the adventure will not be over yet.

After dinner, we will switch on our headlamps, put our snowshoes back on, and return to the starting point walking beneath the stars.
