Snowshoeing from La Magdeleine to Chamois
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
A scenic itinerary through enchanted villages and views of the Matterhorn
A snowshoe hike suitable for many, panoramic and full of charm, connecting two of the most characteristic villages of the Aosta Valley:✨ La Magdeleine, a quiet, sunny balcony overlooking the valley,✨ Chamois, the only car-free village in Italy, accessible only on foot or by cable car.
We start from La Magdeleine following the snowy track of the path of the hamlets, a perfect route for those who love the winter mountains without facing excessive elevation gains. The trail winds through silent larch forests, ancient chalets, and open spaces where the snow reflects the light in almost magical ways.
As we ascend, the views become ever more expansive: the Matterhorn appears and disappears between the trees, imposing and photogenic, while the Matterhorn Paradise basin accompanies the walk. The ascent is constant but gentle, also ideal for those who want to approach snowshoeing with an accessible but exciting route.
We will then reach the Pilaz alpine pasture, a perfect panoramic point for a short stop: the atmosphere here is special, suspended between snowy woods and open views of the Aosta Valley mountains.
A simple, varied and evocative snowshoe hike, perfect to experience with the Guidders community, among snow, panoramas and villages that seem to come from an Alpine fairy tale 🧡.

Federica
Hi Guidders! 🧡 The mountains have been my lifelong companions. I’ve been exploring them for over 35 years, ever since my parents carried me in a backpack along the trails and summits of the Aosta Valley. And once I started walking on my own… I never stopped. After years of experience and professional training, I chose to become a certified Hiking Guide, driven by the desire to share my passion for nature and help others discover the authentic beauty of the mountains. During my treks, I love creating simple, genuine experiences filled with wonder, because every trail has a story to tell. See you on the trail with the rest of the Guidders community! 🥾🌿
