Snowshoeing in Valle delle Messi: the most authentic winter experience above Ponte di Legno
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Easy
Description
Guidders, this time we’re stepping softly into one of the most fascinating valleys in the upper Valle Camonica: Valle delle Messi, in the area of Ponte di Legno and within Stelvio National Park.
An easy snowshoe hike from Santa Apollonia, with little elevation gain and a circular route that will allow us to explore the first part of the valley following the stream, crossing small bridges, snowy clearings, ancient rural hamlets, and quiet stretches of forest.
We’re not interested in conquering a summit. Here, the beauty lies in walking slowly and observing how the snow transforms the landscape.
We’ll set off from Santa Apollonia, also known for its ancient ferruginous water spring, and gradually reach Case Silizzi, Case degli Orti, and Case Predazzo. We’ll cross the stream several times and venture into the forest before completing our itinerary along the Valle delle Messi road.
It’s a perfect option for those who want to try snowshoeing in Ponte di Legno without tackling major climbs, but also for Guidders who simply want to spend a few hours in the winter nature of Stelvio Park.

✨ What makes this snowshoe hike unique
Valle delle Messi is one of those valleys where you don’t need to climb very high to feel completely immersed in the mountains.
Just a few minutes after Santa Apollonia, the landscape changes.
We’ll follow the stream, crossing it several times on small bridges, pass by clearings and clusters of mountain houses, and venture into the forest until we reach Case Predazzo.
