Snowshoeing Under the Stars in Madesimo: Snowy Landscapes, Rifugio La Baitella and a Traditional Dinner

Imagine Madesimo at sunset, the sound of snow crunching beneath your snowshoes, and the first evening lights beginning to glow over the Valle Spluga. This evening snowshoe hike in Madesimo, in the Valchiavenna area, is an easy loop trail of about 6 km with 180–200 meters of elevation gain, also designed for those who want to try snowshoeing without taking on a particularly demanding route.

We will set off from the center of Madesimo and climb toward the Andossi, one of the area’s great natural terraces. Step by step, we will leave the village behind and immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the winter mountains, with views over the Valle Spluga, Madesimo, and the surrounding peaks.

But this time, we won’t just be walking.

Our destination will be Rifugio La Baitella, where the warmth of the mountain hut and a traditional dinner shared together will be waiting for us. Because some of the best Guiddy evenings begin with a pair of snowshoes and end gathered around a table.

After dinner, we will put our snowshoes back on and make our way back under the night sky to Madesimo. A simple yet complete experience, made of snow, mountains, good food, and new people to share the evening with.
