When the Grignetta turns orange

When the sun begins to colour the walls of the Grignetta orange and Lake Como turns into a golden mirror, Monte Coltignone becomes one of the most spectacular places in Lombardy.

We start from the Piani dei Resinelli on a wide, well-marked gravel track, following a loop through woods, pastures and panoramic ridges. We climb the Coltignone for the highlight — sunset light on the lake and the rock faces — and then descend to the Belvedere in Parco Valentino, accompanied by the colours of the evening.

It is barely 6 kilometres with 260 metres of ascent: very little effort for one of the finest views in the Lecco area. The right outing for anyone wanting an evening in the mountains without a demanding climb.
