Val Belviso holds one of the most fascinating and least known corners of the Valtellina Orobie. In a bright glacial basin at the foot of Monte Torena (2,911 m) lie two closely situated and surprising Alpine jewels: the Black Lake and the Green Lake, known as the Torena Lakes.
The trek unfolds in a wide, open, and panoramic environment, alternating pastures, alpine meadows, and sections of trail that gradually lead towards higher altitudes. The route is of medium difficulty, without technical challenges, ideal for hikers accustomed to walking who want to experience a full day amidst authentic nature and wide open spaces.
Arriving at the lakes, the landscape changes suddenly: two bodies of water different in color and atmosphere, set in a stark and fascinating frame, offer a scene of rare beauty. Here time seems to slow down and the gaze gets lost among reflections, silences, and peaks that tell the ancient history of these mountains.
According to a local legend, the Green Lake and the Black Lake are the transformation of two young lovers, united forever in this hidden place: a tale that adds charm and mystery to an excursion already rich in emotions.
