Val Palot: Rifugio Medelet above Lake Iseo

A hushed valley at 1,200 metres above the Sebino

Val Palot is one of the most surprising places above Lake Iseo: a valley at 1,200 metres that in winter becomes a hushed world, wrapped in firs, beeches and a quiet that restores you. It is where you come to switch off, not to rack up kilometres.

Our route follows sections of the well-known Ciaspalot trail, walking at moderate gradients and crossing viewpoints that open suddenly over the Sebino and the Orobie. The first balcony is Passabocche, where the final climb begins.

The goal is Rifugio Medelet, one of those huts that everyone who has been recommends. It is 15 kilometres and 600 metres of ascent, returning through beech woods and landscapes of real charm.

Who it suits
