Description

An intense and meaningful excursion in the Parma Apennines, along the trails of the Val Ceno, to retrace one of the most dramatic pages of local history during the winter of 1945.

This trek will take us to the places that were the scene of the so-called "great winter roundup", a vast military operation conducted by German troops against the partisan formations present in the valley.

We will walk along ancient mule tracks and mountain slopes that witnessed the passage of military columns and Resistance groups, crossing rural landscapes that still retain traces of those events today.

One of the most touching moments of the excursion will be the visit to the places linked to the tragic massacre of Dordia, where on January 10, 1945 eighteen young men were captured and shot.

During the route we will stop at commemorative stones and memorial steles, testimonies that recall the events that occurred and the people involved.

It will be an opportunity to learn more about the history of the Resistance in the Parma Apennines, understanding how the territory, its valleys and its villages played a fundamental role in the last months of the war.

A different kind of trek, which combines nature, history and memory, to get to know the territory through the stories and places that preserve its past.
