Trekking to Lake Dres in Gran Paradiso: A scenic hike in the wild heart of the Orco Valley

This trek takes us into one of the most authentic corners of the Gran Paradiso National Park. Lake Dres is a pearl nestled in a lonely basin, where nature reveals itself in all its power. We will walk through larch forests and high-altitude pastures, with our gaze fixed on the imposing walls of the Levanne peaks. We will start from the shores of Lake Ceresole Reale, in the locality of Villa. The trail climbs with a steady gradient through a beautiful coniferous forest that, as we ascend, gives way to open, panoramic spaces. Once we pass the final stretch among the rocks, the landscape suddenly opens up over the basin of the lake. Here, granite and water create a unique chromatic contrast, typical of the Piedmontese alpine environment.
