Trekking to the Maria e Franco Lomini Refuge at Passo Dernal
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Difficult
Description
The Maria e Franco is a true alpine refuge: remote, isolated, nestled among the Adamello valleys! Although reachable by several itineraries, they are all very long and require a certain level of commitment. We chose to start from Tres in Val Paghera. We will stay on the Camonica side for the ascent into the Dois valley, continuing along a tiring path and scree slope until we reach the Dernal Pass, where our Refuge stands, accompanied only by its main peak: the Re di Castello. Few people reach the Maria e Franco refuge: mainly hikers who follow the Alta Via dell'Adamello, and those who want to savor the experience of one of the wildest and most remote valleys of the Adamello. A long and rewarding journey, precious in its being less known and traveled.
