Val Taleggio: a three-summit loop from Capo Foppa

Three summits in one day, on the grassy ridges of Val Taleggio

A loop trek in the heart of Val Taleggio that wins you over step by step. We set out to discover the three symbol peaks of this corner of the Bergamo Orobie: Pizzo Baciamorti, Monte Araralta and Monte Sodadura, one after the other.

The route runs along broad grassy ridges, between pastures and alpine dairies, with a constant sense of openness. Here the view is the undisputed star: the eye runs from Pizzo dei Tre Signori to the Piani di Artavaggio, out to the Grigne and the Resegone.

This is a hike that does not stop at one summit but builds a whole day: 16 kilometres and 1,000 metres of ascent, with three peaks, a saddle and a final stop at Rifugio Gherardi for a snack before heading back.

Who it suits

This is an intermediate but long hike: 16 kilometres and a thousand metres of ascent in seven hours, with a steep stretch on the south-east ridge of the Sodadura. Trained legs are needed. The Capo Foppa car park charges a fee: the ticket is bought from the machine in Pizzino, at the start of the road.
