Description

At the eastern gateway to the Orobie Alps, the Sant'Antonio Valleys Nature Reserve safeguards one of the most authentic and lesser-known corners of the Lombardy mountains. Between the Brandet Valley and the Campovecchio Valley, crystal-clear streams carve through the rock and converge in the charming village of Sant'Antonio, in the municipality of Corteno Golgi.

Here, the landscape tells an ancient story: rocks smoothed by glaciers, morainic deposits, small lakes hidden in the woods. Walking between Forame and Cavalcafiche means traversing an environment shaped by time, where every detail speaks of powerful and silent nature.

The reserve is a rare balance between man and mountain: alpine pastures, dry stone walls, and grazing lands coexist with deep forests and high-altitude meadows, creating a mosaic of extraordinary biodiversity.

Chamois, red deer, and roe deer live here, while higher up, mountain hares and ermine move about. The golden eagle dominates the skies, and the sounds of the black woodpecker echo in the woods. With a little luck, the mountain allows itself to be observed in its most authentic form.
