Description
One of the most beautiful and least known viewpoints of the Upper Lario region, a vertical climb that doesn't come easy but rewards every meter of elevation gain with spectacular views. Here, the view sweeps from the northernmost point of Lake Como to Valtellina, with the majestic silhouette of Monte Legnone dominating the horizon.
Our hike starts from the characteristic village of Musso (200 m), where the lake gives way to stone steps and steep paths that climb decisively into the heart of the mountain. Step by step, we will reach the saddle of La Corna and then Monte Crocetta (952 m), crossing huts and alpine pastures that tell the authentic story of life in these mountains.
The highest point of the hike is the Sasso di Musso (1,140 m), a true natural balcony overlooking the lake: one of those places that makes you stop, breathe, and smile without saying a word. A little further down, we will encounter the solitary and evocative church of San Bernardo, recognizable by its bell tower with the characteristic red roof, set in a silent and timeless setting.
The descent takes place along ancient mule tracks and historic paths that will lead us to Pianello del Lario, and then back to Musso along the lakefront: a gentler finale that beautifully concludes an intense and rewarding vertical hike.
