Val Vertova in autumn: the pools and falls of the stream

A water canyon that lights up in autumn

Val Vertova is lovely in every season, but in autumn it becomes a living painting. The stream runs between the rocks and the woods around it light up in gold, red and orange: it is one of the most photographed gorges in the Bergamo area, minutes from Val Seriana.

We walk the trail alongside the water, among small waterfalls, canyon walls and clear pools reflecting the autumn colours. The route is simple and suitable for everyone: ten kilometres with barely 300 metres of ascent.

The main stop is in the most scenic part of the gorge, where the falls drop between rock walls and the large pools are swimmable — though in autumn the water is for the brave.
