Winter Trek on Mount Caio in the Hundred Lakes Park with a Mountain Hut Lunch
Guiddy Difficulty Levels
Intermediate
Description
Winter trekking on Monte Caio, in the Schia area, is a captivating excursion in the heart of the Regional Park of the One Hundred Lakes, one of the most fascinating corners of the Parma Apennines. An ideal experience for Guidders who wish to experience the mountains in winter amidst snowy woods, silence, and open views of the Tuscan-Emilian ridge. The route gently ascends the slopes of Monte Caio, crossing beech and fir forests transformed by the snow into a muffled and magical environment. The silence of the high altitude, interrupted only by the sound of footsteps on fresh snow, accompanies the walk to panoramic points, from which the view sweeps over the main peaks of the Apennines. The end of the excursion is dedicated to conviviality, one of the central elements of the Guiddy spirit. For those who wish, there is a stop at a refuge with a typical lunch, a true celebration of local flavors. The menu includes fried polenta with lard and cheeses from the Parma Apennines, followed by a dish of your choice between polenta with mushrooms, polenta with meat sauce, or polenta with melted cheeses. A perfect winter trekking to combine nature, walking, and sharing, to be experienced together with the Guidders community in one of the most authentic contexts of the Apennines.
